The St Matthew Parish mission team has arrived in the Dominican Republic and is sending news back home. We’ll be posting their words and photos as we receive them!

4/29/22 AM: Team landed safe and sound. Thanks be to God for a successful mission!

4/28/22 AM: We attended Mass with the Sisters this morning. We’re preparing to go to Barahona for covid testing: "Think negative"!

From there, we will continue onto Santo Domingo and get results there.

4/27/22 PM: We saw Cachote, which is way up in the mountains, and planted avocado, lemon, orange, and mango trees. Along the way, we delivered donations to families, who very isolated. Solar lights, sunglasses, underwear, and seeds are very appreciated.

We’re eating dinner at Salin’s house and hoping to dance la bachata, since it's our last night in Paraiso. Everyone is well; we are very grateful!

4/27/22 AM: Anna is very grateful for wheelchair and other donations. Please pray for Elena who is suffering with cancer and has many little children to care for. One group went to Leonardo late yesterday looking for water source for the school there—a difficult hike at dusk. Andri is a teacher there.
We celebrated another beautiful sunrise Mass and are getting ready to see land in Cachote, where we will plant fruit trees.

4/26/22 PM: We're back at Paraiso for another long day of aqueduct work. Just had some local fish for dinner. Heading out now to take a donated wheelchair to Anna and to visit Elena, who has cancer.

4/26/22 AM: Another beautiful sunrise Mass and ready to start the day. We were serenaded by a pack of stray dogs last night. Everyone well this morning; thanks be to God.

4/24/22: Sunrise Mass this morning—beautiful! We are gearing up for the day, going back to Platón. We may not be able to get to Cachote because of heavy rain last night. Two of our team have stomach issues and are staying behind. Thank you for prayers!

May the joy of the Lord be our strength this day!

4/23/22: Everyone doing well and had a great day, but ready to go to bed early, since we didn't sleep last night and hiked all day. Sunset Mass tonight. Rectory is beautiful, and chivalry is not dead: women have bunk beds, and men are sleeping on the floor.

More aqueduct work tomorrow!

4/22/22: Arrived safely in Paraiso. Everyone well, but sleepy. Going up to Platón.
