a welcome message
Dear Friends in the Lord,
Welcome to the Saint Matthew Roman Catholic Church! As you navigate these pages, I do hope that you not only find the information you seek: upcoming events, opportunities for your own faith formation, and special encounters with the Lord through the Sacramental life of our parish. Indeed, I also hope that you will find strong evidence of the welcoming, vibrant, and Spirit-filled community that is Saint Matthew Parish family, and that you will find your way to our church, if you have yet to visit us. Our parish is a place of spiritual comfort and support, both to its members and to the wider community of Windham and beyond.
As Pastor of this family of faith, Saint Matthew Parish is a pleasant, prayerful, and pro-active environment to learn about the Catholic faith, connect with the community, and experience an encounter with God through prayer and Liturgy. I hope that you will come to appreciate that our church, in all its beauty, is so much more than just a physical structure built of brick and mortar (and wood), but truly a living temple of God’s Holy Spirit, Who is present, alive, and at work in and through all of our parish’s people—who are the Church, the living Body of Christ.
Please join us and become an active member of Saint Matthew Parish, so that together we may all strive to fulfill our collective responsibility to witness to and share the Gospel with all people by means of our ongoing physical and spiritual works and sacrifices. May the Lord continue to bless all those who enter our parish campus, and in particular our church and perpetual adoration chapel, as they seek strength and consolation from God in these holy places. Likewise, may God be with all those who go forth from them, and be enabled and empowered to be living signs of God’s presence in the world.
May Saint Matthew, our beloved patron and guide, continue to intercede for all of us; and may the Lord, Who has begun such good work in the Catholic community of Windham since the foundation of the parish in 1962, bring it to fulfillment! May God be praised and adored!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Monsignor Anthony R. Frontiero, S.T.D.
